Job Description

Our client is the ‘AntilliaanseTelevisie Maatschappij’, also known as TeleCuraçao, a local commercial television broadcasting organization with an important information, communication and entertainment role for the communities of the Dutch Caribbean and in particular Curaçao. The mission of our client is to deliver high quality television and radio products and services and to function as the most preferred provider of these broadcasting services. The core business of the organization is news gathering and – dissemination, live-to-air productions, studio productions, on screen productions, a wide variety of programming, including local and international (sport) news, transmission, and other functions essential to the company’s television and radio broadcast operations. For this client we seek candidates for the following position:

News Manager

The position
As News Manager you are responsible for high quality news programming in order to provide the community with objective, trustworthy and relevant information. You develop policies and plans, and manage and lead the news department. You guide the reporters and the editorial staff and you are responsible for the identification of important and relevant news items and issues within the community, for contacting news resources and for the gathering, research, preparation, review, and presentation of news items. You ensure the delivery of the daily newscast and you monitor the quality of the news productions and the compliance with ethical principles, good practices, policies and codes such as the journalism code of ethics in general and in particular the Society for Professional Journalism. You report to the CEO.

Your profile
You have a relevant degree on bachelors’ level preferably in the field of Journalism and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience preferably in the broadcasting or a related industry. You follow and are interested in the local society dynamics. You are of impeccable behavior, independent and trustworthy and you value ethics. Furthermore you are result oriented, robust, resilient and determined and have well developed leadership, interpersonal, networking and problem-solving skills. You are able to perform well under stress and you have excellent redaction, written and verbal skills in Papiamentu, Dutch, Spanish and English.
