Full-Time Director of Human Resources

Job Description

Director of Human Resources is responsible for the smooth and profitable operation of our companys Human Resources department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supervising and providing consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, compensation, benefits, training and development, budget and labor relations. Director of Human Resources is also expected to take a leadership role in maintaining our culture that enables employees to perform in accordance to the companys objectives.

Primary Job Duties

  • Effectively develop and evaluate human resource-related initiatives that support organizational strategic goals. 
  • Lead performance management, talent assessment and effective labor relationships, including negotiating and administering labor agreements.
  • Supervise staff and report to the General Manager on issues regarding implementation of policies and procedures, safety of the workforce, recruiting and hiring high-performing employees and other human resources related functions.
  • Direct the development and implementation of organizational development programs such as employee orientation and training programs, benefits plans, database management, policies and guidelines procedures, equal opportunity employment programs, employee records and documentation policies. 
  • Evaluating effectiveness of processes by compiling and analyzing data. Prepare and distribute various reports on human resources metrics by utilizing technology to ensure requirements are up to standard. 
  • Ensuring compliance with local labor laws and industry regulations.
  • Advising department managers on legal implications of human resources queries related to discipline and employee grievances.
  • Planning and overseeing the human resources department budget.
  • Participate in development and support of Managing Committee initiatives.
  • Leverage advanced knowledge and skills to succeed as a Director of Human Resources


  • College degree in a related field.
  • Five years Human Resources Management experience required in a comparable hotel/resort, luxury preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Dutch and Papiamentu. Spanish is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential matters.
  • Computer literacy/hands on experience.
  • Extensive knowledge about local law, including but not limited to labor and immigration laws (in Curacao).
  • Citizen or permanent resident of Curacao, Aruba or St. Maarten.
